Lila E. Lafayette, age 89, passed away April 3, 2012 She was born on January 6, 1923, in Detroit, to the late George and Ethel Haskel. In April 1948, she married Edward Lafayette. Lila served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII as a pharmacist’s Mate 3rd Class “Spars” She was a member of the Seniors Study Club of South Lyon, and Secretary of the First United Methodist Church of South Lyon. Lila is survived by her daughter Lorraine (Timothy) Fairbanks, her grandchildren: Collin (Lisa) Kwolek, Nathan (Myria) Fairbanks; great-grandchildren: Justin Kwolek, Angelica Barich-Kwolek, Willamina and Marlowe Fairbanks and her sister Thelma Belcher, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Lafayette, and her husband of five months Robert C. Haas, and her brother Richard Haskel. Visitation will be held on April 9 from 4 -9 p.m. at PHILLIPS FUNERAL HOME, South Lyon. A Funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 10 at First United Methodist Church of South Lyon.
